Stern propulsion system loss in Vancouver
The "Vitahorizon" suffered the loss of its stern propulsion system while berthing at a grain terminal in Vancouver, British Columbia, in position 49 17 18.8 N, 123 04 44.9 W, on Oct 27, 2018 at 02.37 a.m. The vessel berthed with tugs' assistance. The crew carried out repairs. the ship sailed again on Oct 30, bound to Nakhodka, ETA Nov 16.
Oil spill during bunkering operation
About 1,5 tons of fuel oil leaked from the "Vita Horizon" in the evening of Sep 3, 2017, during a bunkering operation. The spill was reported to authorities in the morning of Sep 4. The vessel was moored at Lower 12 Mile Point Anchorage, Mississippi, in the New Orleans area, near the Braithwaite and Wilderness Park. Cleanup operation were launched, and the bulk carrier was surrounded by oil booms.
