Crew of Clipper Faith to be repatriated, ship to be auctioned

Mon May 27 22:06:36 CEST 2013 Timsen

The crew of the "Clipper Faith" was to be repatriated to the Ukraine after a deal was struck over pay. The 17 crew of the ship have been stranded in Dublin since their ship was arrested on Mar 12. The ship was seized on behalf of the Amsterdam Trade Bank because the owners had failed to keep up mortgage payments. The crew could not get home to the Ukraine because they had not been paid since Dec 1, 2012. They have been onboard for up to seven months. The settlement was struck between the bank and the International Transport Workers Federation. The crew was to be paid their back pay and compensation for breach of contract and flown home in the coming days. The "Clipper Faith" was be auctioned in Dublin on June 14 to pay off the money owed to the bank.

Russian and Ukrainian crew to be paid 250000 Euro

Wed May 15 11:49:47 CEST 2013 Timsen

The Russian and Ukrainian crew of the "Clipper Faith" which were stranded in Dublin because of a financial dispute were to be paid 250000 Euro in arrears and allowed to return home. The vessel was arrested by a bank in the Netherlands in March after its London-based owners defaulted on a mortgage. The 17 sailors had not been paid their wages since December 2012, and half of them left the ship in February believing they would never be paid. The International Transport Federation intervened to resolve the row and ensure that the crew will be paid their arrears in full.
