River cruise ship crashed bridge
On Dec 12, 2015, at 10.15 p.m. the "Primadonna" allided with a pedestrian bridge spanning the Danube lock in Aschach. The bridge was broken off its foundations and crashed onto the upper deck of the river cruise ship. The ship traffic remained barred until Dec 13, 6 p.m. when one of the two locks could be opened again. The destroyed bridge will have to be lifted off the "Primadonna" with a mobile crane. The accident happened because the master of the ship had lowered the wheelhouse too late so that it slammed into the bridge.
