Broken mast injured four
On May 14, 2016, around midday the mast of the "Poolster" broke on the Wadden Sea. Almost the whole 30 meter long mast and a portion of the aft mast came down and ended up largely in the water. Four persons aboard were wounded. The lifeboats of the KNRM station Harlingen took the four injured people on board and brought them to Harlinen where three ambulances stood ready. The skipper and his crew took care of the guests while some crew members of the KNRM boat and personnel of the company Noordgat helped to dismantle the mast and rigging. Two tugs of Noordgat then dragged the mast to Harlingen where it was pulled out of the water with mobile cranes. The charter ship could then return under its own power back to Harlingen. Fortunately the injuries were less than first thought, so the group of guests could be reunited at night. THe ship berthed at the Scheepreparatie Friesland in Harlingen on May 15 around 5 p.m. Reports with photos and videos: https://www.knrm.nl/nieuws/knrm-reddingstation-harlingen/gebroken-mast-charterschip-4-gewonden http://www.nieuwsmeldingen.nl/regio/3035796/update-ungelokken-op-it-wetter-troch-de-hurde-wyn http://www.harlingenonline.nl/2016/05/14/vier-gewonden-op-zeilcharter-door-gebroken-mast/ http://www.hvnieuws.nl/nieuws/vier-gewonden-nadat-een-mast-afbrak-op-schip-14-05-2016.html http://www.hvnieuws.nl/nieuws/vier-gewonden-nadat-een-mast-afbrak-op-schip-14-05-2016.html http://www.112fryslan.nl/2016/05/vier-gewonden-afbreken-mast-op-zeilcharter/
