Tanker attacked by missiles
The "Pollux" has been hit by a Houthi missile 72 nautical miles northwest of the port of Mokha, off Yemen, on Feb 16, 2024. Four anti-ship ballistic missiles were launched from Iranian-backed Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen into the Red Sea over several hours on Friday. At least three of the missiles were launched towards the 'Pollux'. The vessel suffered minor damage. The crew was safe and unharmed. The 'Pollux' had sailed from Novorossiysk on Jan 24 en route to Paradip, where the Indian Oil Company has a 300,000 barrels per day (bpd) oil refinery, with an ETA as of Feb 28. The ship is owned by the Oceanfront Maritime Co. SA and managed by Sea Trade Marine SA. Another vessel three nautical miles northeast of the 'Pollux' was observed altering course to port, away from the tanker.
