Catamaran stranded in abandoned fish farm

Thu Jan 12 11:14:55 CET 2017 Timsen

Salvamento Marítimo rescued a woman and two children from the "Amazing Marvin", which ran into a fish farm that was currently abandoned between Juan Grande and Castillo del Romeral, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The accident happened in the night of Jan 10, 2017, around 8 p.m. The catamaran was underway from Gran Canaria and headed for Barbados. This fishing facility i was not marked or illuminated. The yacht owner decided to stay on the boat during the night to take care of the catamaran. Being hooked in the center of the fish farm for more than 12 hours broke the two propellers and the two rudders of the ship. On Jan 11 at 09.30 a.m. the company Reprosub, specialized in diving and rescue, based in Las Palmas, was contracted to recover the catamaran. The boat was towed to the Arguineguín wharf, where it arrived at 7:30 p.m. http://www.laprovincia.es/sucesos/2017/01/12/encalla-yate-piscifactoria-abandonada-juan/898550.html
