Contract extended
TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company (TGS) has signed a letter of award (LOA) for a contract extension for the "Polarcus Adira". In April 2015, TGS and Polarcus signed a deal that would see the vessel collecting 3D seismic data over an area of 3,000 square kilometres in the southeast Barents Sea. This contract was renewed on June 1 for a further 3,000 square km of work in the Norwegian Barents Sea, once the original survey has been completed. The LOA signed in April allowed for a contract extension of up to 7,000 square km.
Polarcus Adira mobilizes to the US Gulf of Mexico
Polarcus Adira is in transit from Las Palmas to the US Gulf of Mexico to commence a six month charter for TGS. The purpose-built 3D seismic vessel is equipped with specialized, advanced maritime technology to minimize the environmental footprint of the operation and the vessel continues to set new standards for the industry, having been awarded the highest achievable Triple-E(TM) environmental and energy efficiency rating by DNV-GL, the world's leading ship and maritime classification society. Commenting on the charter, Rolf Ronningen, CEO Polarcus said: "This will be our first project in the US; the first of many we anticipate in the years ahead. We are especially excited to have this opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities within this important market and we look forward to bringing our unique environmental agenda to the US Gulf and to delivering TGS a very high quality dataset for their multi-client program." The survey for TGS will cover an area of 11,500 square kilometers and will involve the technologically-advanced seismic vessel towing a large receiver spread, comprising multiple solid streamers each ten kilometers in length, and a specialized source array designed to focus the acoustic energy in a vertical direction. The program will image both the regional stratigraphy and deep basin structures in the deep-water Central Gulf of Mexico. This project forms part of the Company's existing backlog that has been previously announced through the Oslo Stock Exchange. Damen Ship Repair refurbished seismic vessel around the clock
Damen Shiprepair Den Helder was rewarded a contract for modification activities on the "Polarcus Adira". The vessel arrived on berth Den Helder on Nov 2, 2012. Repairs executed were, amongst others: works in the Seismic Control Room as to insulation and lighting, delivery and installment of Barovani Stands & Reel Frames, rerouting cables and pipelines of the AC unit in the Engine Control Room. The bad weather situation with heavy rain and storm didn’t influence the mentioned activities during the port call of 80 hours. The team was active in two shifts of 12 hours each. Before departure a word of thanks was shared by the Master & Management of M.v. “Polarcus Adira” of all involved with the activities. The ship then sailed to Durban with next port of call Port Louis, ETA Dec 4.
