Chinese worker in hospital after 4metre fall while unloading logs

Mon Feb 13 10:27:36 CET 2012 arnekiel

A Chinese man is in Tauranga Hospital after he fell about four metres when a heavy metal cable knocked him off a pile of logs inside a ship docked at the Port of Tauranga. The 29-year-old man was unloading logs on the ship called Poavosa Wisdom VI at berth nine when the cable, called a strop, knocked him down into one of the ship’s steel holds. A Tauranga St John Ambulance spokesperson says the man was found trapped in the hold of the 169m long, Panamanian flagged, vessel when paramedics arrived at about 12.20am. “He was knocked off the logs by a swinging strop and has fallen four metres onto the steel deck. http://www.sunlive.co.nz/news/21785-steely-ship-fall-chinese-worker.html
