Container ship remains aground with water in cargo hold
On Aug 29 the "Plata Feeder" remained aground on the Parana river. The Coastguard has only allowed the passage of three small coasters in the morning. The situation was described as not good, as she had water in her hold. The "Plata Feeder" had suffered steering failure, hit the "Thisseas" and was holed. Also some containers were damaged.
Collision near Buenos Aires
The cargo m/v "Thisseas" was in collision with the "Plata Feeder" at km 28,5 on the Emilio Mitre Canal between Buenos Aires and the mouth of the Paraná de las Palmas river near Buenos Aires in the morning of Aug 25, 2013, around 11 p.m. The "Thisseas" was heading down the canal after loading cargo at Renova and bound for Rotterdam, when it collided with the other freighter. Both vessels suffered only minor damage. Both vessels proceeded to anchorage off Buenos Aires to be inspected. The navigation channel was temporarily restricted to vessel traffic.
