Grounding on Paraná
The "Pilatus Venture" ran aground on the Paranà river in front of Ramalla on May 3, 2018, at 6.30 p.m. The loaded ship was sailing downstream, bound to Tauranga, when it got stuck at kilometer mark 325. The bulk carrier was partially obstructing passing traffic while refloating attempts were started. Around 60 ships faced delays near Argentina’s grains hub as the ship blocked the passage downriver towards the Atlantic Ocean. The cargo ship, contracted by Glencore and en route to Australia, was stuck about 53 miles south of Rosario. It was loaded with 42,500 tonnes of soybean meal.
