Ferry hit by container barge
The "Peter Pan" had to suspend the service between Leopoldshafen and Leimersheim on the Rhine after a French barge allided with the ship which was still moored at the shore on Apr 2, 2014, at 6 a.m. There were three cars and four bicyclists on board. None of the around 7-8 passengers was injured when the barge pushed the ferry onto the shore so that the ramp shifted. The damage was estimated to be around 50000 Euro. The container barge was underway from the Netherlands to Breisach. It suffered a breach of around 40 centimeters in the stern region 1,3 meters above the waterline. It was allowed to proceed to Karlsruhe. The damage at the barge was estimated to be around 100.000 Euro geschätzt. The accident seemed to have been caused by a navigational error.
