Lifeboat saved 122 migrants
The crew of the "Peter Henry Von Koss" participated in a rescue operation off the island of Lesvos after a boat with hundreds of refugees got into trouble and went down between Turkey and Levsos on Oct 28, 2015. The crew esd alerted at 6 p.m. and rescued 122 people. Two of the children they took on board were dead. Several other boats also participated in the rescue efforts. High seas and strong winds in the area caused demanding rescue conditions. The crew of the "Peter Henry Von Koss" consisted of three members of the Norwegian police, three of the NSSR and one representative of the Greek coast guard. - Since the end of July, the ship and crew rescued over 1,000 people from dangerous situations at sea.
