The "Helgeland", while serving the "Træna route" between Selvær, Træna, Lovund, Nesna and Sandnessjøen, on Dec 22, 2010, at 7.07 a.m. ran aground with 21 passengers 500 metres north of Lovund in Nordland. The accident happened on the trip from Lovund to Sandnessjøen. It is the third grounding of the ship within one year. The "Helgeland" was meanwhile dragged off the rocks and was moved to Lovund. She suffered damage to its propeller and rudder and water ingress in the ruder machine room. The "Sanna" headed from Lovund to Sandnessjøen as a relief, and the ferry "Kingen" will act as a replacement vessel starting on 1.30 p.m. Norwegian report with photo: http://nrk.no/nyheter/distrikt/nordland/1.7435920
