Vessel found overloaded in Kiel Canal
The "Pegasus" was found overloaded by the water police in the small Northern Lock of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel on Mar 4, 2012. The ship had entered the lock bound for Bremerhaven at 1 p.m. with a cargo of 970 tons heavy fuel. The police found out that the draught exceeded the allowed level by eight centimetres which was an equivalent of 38 tons oil. The ship was banned from sailing until the draught was reduced, and the German captain will be fined. After ballast water was removed, the ship was allowed to continue to its destination.
