Medevac off St. John's

Wed Jul 01 21:48:33 CEST 2015 Timsen

A 21-year old sick crew member on the "Pascoal Atlantico" has been airlifted to hospital in St. John's, following a doctor's recommendation on June 30, 2015. The trawler, located about 540 kilometres east of St. John's, was just inside the maximum range for a Cormorant helicopter. A Gander-based Cormorant was sent to the Grand Banks, and a crew was able to hoist the man aboard. The helicopter was accompanied by a Hercules plane based in Nova Scotia. The man arrived at St. John's International Airport around 8 p.m. and was taken to the Health Sciences Centre. The CCGS "Cape Roger" also assisted in the rescue.
