General cargo vessel Ruby detained in Poti, Georgia, Black sea, for violating port rules by lowering a working boat without a proper permission from the authorities. Owner of the vessel is facing a fine of some $30,000. The date of the detention is not clear – media reported incident taking place on Sep 30 2012, but vessel was in Poti on Sep 28, latest AIS signal dated Sep 28 evening. On June 14, 2010, at 4.30 p.m. the “Storman Asia” entered the port of Durress, Albania, and proceeded to berth. The pilot suddenly remarked that the engine could not switch from Ahead to Astern. At 4.39 p.m. still having a speed of about 6 knots, the “Storman Asia” struck the Russian cargo m/v “Ruby” at 90 degrees angle in the foreship region. The “Ruby” was damaged on starboard side at the bow.
