Medevac in Mediterranean

The MRCC of Valencia and Cartagena coordinated the medevac of a crew member of the 'Panda' in the Mediterranean Sea. The SAR helicopter Helimer 211 was deployed to hoist an injured crew member from the vessel. He was trasnported to Alicante and from there by ambulance to the Elche hospital. Collision off Babakale

The "Panda", enroute from Istanbul to Damietta, was in collision with the cargo m/v "Barlas", which was underway from Tuzla to Bizerte, in the outskirts of Babakale at Çanakkale on Dec 6, 2018, around midnight. Both ships were sailing in the same direction off the coast in the Ayvacık district and suffered slight damage on the shell plating above the water line. Neither of the ships requested assistance and both were able to continue their respective voyages.
