Armed robbers boarded tanker
The chief engineer of the "Sichem Rio" has been attacked by armed robbers aboard the tanker while it was anchored off Tanjung Priok in Indonesia. The assault happened shortly before sunrise on July 31, 2019. Six armed robbers sneaked aboard the tanker, where they attacked and wounded the man who was conducting a round on the ship. An alarm was sounded and the crew mustered, causing the robbers to flee. The assault was the second in this area over the past month as robberies and thefts continued to be a problem in ports and anchorages in Indonesia. The British security adviser Gray Page encouraged ships to keep a tight watch when they are in the area.
