Ship got stuck in Kiel Canal

Sat Jul 02 12:32:38 CEST 2016 Timsen

On July 2, 2016, at 3.30 a.m. the "Hekla" ran aground on the embankment of the Kiel Canal near Sehestedt close to the wharf at Steinwehr enroute from Gdansk to Bremen. The tug "Kiel" was dispatched from Kiel and pulled the ship back into the fairway at 7 a.m. The tug then escorted the "Hekla" to the communal port in Rendsburg where it berthed at 7.50 a.m. and the water Police Kiel boarded the ship for investigations. A diver was called for a hull survey. At 2 p.m. the ship was allowed to continue the voyage, ETA Bremen July 2, 10 p.m.
