After its collision with the "Eleonora" at Rhine km 502,6 at Biebrich, the "Palandiel" remained at Biebrich on Jan 19 with a significant dent in the bow. Both ships had been empty when running into each other on Jan 18 around 9 a.m. The "Eleonora" was enroute Mainzt-Werkendam, and the "Palandiel" underway to Karlsruhe. Both ships had their radars on due to foggy weather. The water police Wiesbaden is using the radar images to investigate the cause of the collision. The fairway is wide enough for a safe passage. The "Eleonora" sailed to the Netherlands for repairs on Jan 18, the tanker was not yet allowed to proceed due to possible engine damage.
