Cargo ship aground after engine trouble off Harlingen
The "Pacific Dawn" suffered engine failure in the Wadenzee short time after leaving Harlingen in the afternoon of Mar 19, 2016. The freighter ran aground on the breakwater of the Pollendam off the harbor entrance of Harlingen. In order to avoid that the ship was pushed further agraound, the anchor was dropped. Tugs of the companies Tuinman and Noordgat were called in to get the unloaded cargo ship off. The ship anchored in the Kimstergat, north of Harlingen where the main engine could be restarted. In the early evening the "Pacific Dawn" could continue its journey, accompanied by several tugs, and headed to Mongstad. Tow to Amsterdam after engine room flooding
In the morning of Jan 13, 2012, the "Pacific Dawn" sailed from the Alexandra Dock at Kingston upon Hull Hull for Ijmuiden under tow of the Wagenborg tug "Waterman". Having arrived at Hull Jan 2 the cargo ship had suffered flooding to her engine room due to a problem with a valve. The ship passed the Amsterdam North lock on Jan 14 at 10.30 p.m. and berthed at Velsen Noord short before midnight.
