Robbers stole five batteries

Wed Feb 07 11:33:56 CET 2018 Timsen

The "Pacific Champion" was boarded by two robbers while anchored at Takoradi anchorage, in approximate position 04 54N, 01 43W, on Feb 2, 2018, at 02.45 a.m. The robbers were spotted by the watchman, who shouted at them and alerted the bridge. The Officer of the Watch raised alarm and the ship's whistle was sounded. The two robbers jumped overboard and climbed into a boat where three accomplices were waiting. Following an investigation, it was discovered that five heavy duty batteries had been stolen. The Officer of the Watch established contact with Sekondi naval base via VHF radio, which dispatched a patrol vessel to the Takoradi anchorage area.
