164 migrants landed in Crotone

164 migrants landed in the morning of April 19, 2023, at the port of Crotone, who were carried on a luxury yacht for four days aboard the boat from Imzir to Calabria on the same route as the boat which on Feb 26 was shipwrecked a few tens of meters from the Steccato beach of Cutro, causing the death of 94 people. The boat was spotted on April 18 by a Frontex aircraft about 100 miles southeast of the Calabrian coast. At 9 a.m. the 'CP 322' set off From Crotoneto rescue the migrants together with the patrol vessel 'Bojador' of the Portuguese National Republican Guard which is operating in the Ionian Sea as part of the Frontex system. The landings took place shortly after 7 a.m., when 66 people got off the Italian patrol boat. The second occurred from the Portuguese patrol vessel, which brought 98 people to port. The migrants came from Afghanistan, Syria, Bangladesh, Iraq, Egypt, Kuwait, Palestine and Myanmar. Among them 50 minors, 32 of whom are unaccompanied and 18 women, one of whom was pregnant and was accompanied to the emergency room. Patrol boat successfully refloated

The 'Bojador' which ran aground on Carcavelos beach on Sep 1 at 2.30 p.m., has been refloated at 10.20 p.m. by a tug with the rising tide, the peak of which was expected at midnight, and made its way to the port of Lisbon where the damages will be investigated during the next days. The cause of the incident will be determined in an inquiry. The opdation was supported the General Directorate of the Maritime Authority, the Captaincies of the Port of Lisbon and Cascais, the Parede Voluntary Fire Department and the Naufragos Aid Institute. Grounding near Lisbon

The GNR 'Bojador' ran aground off the Carcavelos beach near Lisbon in the afternoon of Sep 1, 2021. The cause of the grounding was yet unknown. The ship was undergoing survey prior any to refloating attempts, which were to take place with the high tide.
