Trawler may be auctioned
The "Øygarden", which was to fish outside Mauritania, but was arrested in Las Palmas on Gran Canaria on June 27, 2020, is to be sold. Since the arrest, the shipping company Sen Havfiske AS went bankrupt due to a combination of large investments in upgrading the trawler, poor fishing and corona. The former owner Ove Einarsen wants to buy the vessel back, but two suppliers of equipment did not agree. If this does not happen, the ship will be auctioned. The vesselhad fished sardinella, mackerel and horse mackerel off the coast of West Africa and was in Gran Canaria for a crew change when it was taken into custody. The reason for the arrest was that two of the suppliers of equipment have not received a settlement. The crew also had outstanding claims forwages. The claims amounted to a sum between three and four millione Norwegian crowns.
