Tanker lightered after suffering bow damage
On Nov 21, 2018, the "Baltic Mariner 1" was transshipping its cargo onto the Danish tanker "Nord Bell" (IMO: 9309980) at the Reina Sofia Norte Quay in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The "Nord Bell" had berthed alongside on Nov 20 at 9.15 a.m. The "Baltic Mariner 1" had arrived in port partly loaded on Nov 14. Upon entering the port of Las Palmas the vessel allided with the end of Muelle Elder (Elder Harbour) destroying the tide gauge. The ship had a pilot on board. It suffered a significant damage to its port side bow with torn off metal debris getting embedded in the hull. After the cargo transfer was completed, the "Nord Bell" sailed on Nov 22 at 8.45 a.m. bound to Tenerife. On Nov 23 at 3.20 a.m. the "Baltic Mariner" berthed at the local Astican Yard for repairs.
