Two crew members injured during maintenance work

Fri Nov 17 10:01:46 CET 2017 Timsen

On Nov 16, 2017 at 3:32 p.m. the CROSS Corsen was contacted by the "Orange Harmony", on which two crew members had been seriously injured following maintenance operations they had carried out on the bridge. The ship was 95 miles west of the tip of Brittany. Following a conference call between the Maritime Medical Consultation Center in Toulouse, the cargo ship and the CROSS Corsen, the decision was made to medevac the two by helicopter. The CROSS deployed a Cayman helicopter from the French Nave base Lanvéoc-Poulmic with a medical team on board. It took off at 4:10 p.m. and reached the ship about 30 minutes later. The sailors are cared for by the medical team and then hoisted aboard the helicopter at 5:50 p.m. They were taken to the hospital Cavale Blanche in Brest, where they arrived at 6:18 p.m.
