Master and owner fined for dumping waste in marine park
The master and owner of the "Pantanal" that dumped garbage in the Great Barrier Reef marine park have been fined. Both pleaded guilty in the Townsville Magistrates Court to illegally dumping food waste from "Pantanal" in the park in July 2011. The ship's master was fined $500, while the owner was fined $5000. Convictions were recorded against both men.
Repair of Pantanal completed
After repairs of the grounding damage suffered in the Cashla Bay on March 31, during a lengthy stay in Bremerhaven, the "Panatanal" departed from there on May 21, 2011, bound for Antwerp, where the next cargo destined for Casablance was taken aboard at the Churchill Dock between May 22 and 25, ETA Casablanca May 29.

The "Pantanal" left Galway Bay after preliminary repairs of grounding damage, ETA Bremerhaven Apr 21. Here the ship will be drydocked for permanent repairs.
