NYK Olympus struck again

Mon Jul 06 10:48:34 CEST 2015 Timsen

In the early afternoon of July 4 the "NYK Olympus" left the pilings in Finkenwerder with the assistance of the tugs "ZP Bulldog" and "ZP Boxer". She sailed to the Parkhafen, turned, the tugs unmoored, and the boxship seemed to finally leave Hamburg. When she reached the Airbus premises around 3 p.m. she stopped again thus blocking the way of inbouud tanker "Amorina" and the outbound container ship "Voronezh". (The two tugs again hurried to assist her and she was again berthed at Finkenwerder. Only later the day, at 6.40 p.m., she finally managed to sail out of Hamburg bound to Le Havre.

Container ship blocked Elbe after blackout

Sat Jul 04 10:42:08 CEST 2015 Timsen

Short time after having left the CTA in Hamburg the "NYK Olympus" suffered a broken fuel line and subsequent engine blackout in Hamburg on the Elbe on July 3, 2015, around 9 p.m. The ship was emergency anchored at buoy 116 off Grünendeich and turned around 180 degrees, forcing the cruise ship "MSC Splendida" which also had left Hamburg, to stop off the Lühe berth until the container ship had turned around completely. The tugs "ZP Bulldog" and "SD Dolphin" took the "NYK Olympus" in tow. She was moored at the pilings in Finkenwerder at 11.30 p.m. German report with photo and video: http://www.tageblatt.de/lokales/aktuelle-meldungen_artikel,-Containerschiff-NYK-Olympus-muss-vor-Gruenendeich-notankern-_arid,1142873.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRzYwjHn0Dc
