Thu Feb 27 21:08:40 CET 2020 Timsen

A Mexican patrol boat during surveillance tasks in Ensenada waters spotted a person on board of the 'MOL Majesty', throwing packages in water, and a suspicious boat at the ship’s side in the evening of Feb 26, 2020. The boat with three persons was detained, and it was found out that the packages contained three kilos of white powder resembling cocaine. All four suspects in drug trafficking were arrested. The 'MOL Majesty' had arrived at Ensenada, coming from Manzanillo, on Feb 25, and remained stationary at Ensenada anchorage as of Feb 27.

The Japanese container ship "MOL Majesty" that left the port of Tokyo two days after the tsunami is expected today in Hamburg. It is the first Japanese ship that reaches the port after the disaster. It most likely that there is no radiation exposure and she will be handled in the port as any other ship, a spokesman for the Interior Senate told the press yesterday. After its departure from Japan, the freighter already called ports including Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam. Before she reaches Hamburg, she has discharged a part of its load at the weekend in Rotterdam,. A Rotterdam port spokesman said the "MOL Majesty" was not controlled particularly on radiation exposure. The ship had sailed from Japan, before there was a radaiton exhaust from the Fukushima nuclear plant. Therefore, it will be examined like any other ship. However, in this case, there is a plan: The ship will be stopped in Finkenwerder at Hamburg port entrance and will be examined by the water police.

The port of Hamburg is preparing for the first ship reaching Hamburg after the nuclear disaster in Fukushima. The MOL MAJESTY will sail on river Elbe next Tuesday. On March 13, 2011, two days after the earthquake, the container ship left Tokyo. "Radiation exposure on board is not known, the team is doing well, " said Jan Holst, managing director of the German subsidiary of Japanese shipping company MOL, about the situation on board. The ship is in the timetable. There had been no problems with port authorities. However, before the ship reaches Rotterdam (before coming to Hamburg) an independent survey team will be carried on board by helicopter or boat, "We want to exclude any risk to crew and cargo."
