Castor Maritime charters latest acquisition out to Oldendorff
Petros Panagiotidis-led Castor Maritime has completed the acquisition of 2001-built Korean panamax bulker Nirefs from Diana Shipping for $6.7m, doubling the size of the company’s fleet. The vessel has been renamed Magic Sun, and has been fixed to Germany’s Oldendorff Carriers at a daily rate of $12,000. The charter is set to commence on September 7, and is for a period of eight to twelve months. It will generate revenues of $2.9m based on the minimum charter period, and up to $4.4m.
Diana Shipping moves to offload panamax NIREFS
Having sold 2001-built panamxes Danae and Dione last month, Greek dry bulk owner Diana Shipping has moved to sell Samho Heavy sister vessels, the 2001-built Nirefs and Oceanis. The two vessels, now the oldest in Diana’s fleet, are being circulated by brokers to be sold “at best in line with current market”. MSI values both the Nirefs and Oceanis at $7.4m.
Diana Shipping Inc. announces a new time charter contract for m/v Nirefs with Hudson
The Company announced that, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, it has entered into a time charter contract with Hudson Shipping Lines Incorporated for one of its Panamax dry bulk vessels, the m/v Nirefs. The gross charter rate is US$10,750 per day, minus a 3.75% commission paid to third parties, for a period of minimum eleven (11) months to maximum fourteen (14) months. The charter commenced on August 11, 2018. The m/v Nirefs was chartered, as previously announced, to Jaldhi Overseas Pte. Ltd., Singapore, at a gross charter rate of US$9,400 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties.
