ONDERNEMING IV 3700745
"Onderneming IV ", 4131 ts (EU-Nr.: 2327341), ran aground on the Rhine in the morning of Feb 21 short before 7 a.m. near Dettenheim. The gravel-laden 256-TEU ship was in an evasive maneuver because of an oncoming vessel and got too far to starboard getting stuck in a groyne field. The stern was sticking into the fairway and impeded the subsequent shipping. Attempts to refloat the ship with own power failed. With approval of an on-site representative of the water and shipping office another ship tried to pull the "Onderneming IV" off, but the attempt failed. The river authority in the course of the day decreed that the ship would have to be lightened by several hundred tons of ots cargo. This was only to happen after the arrival of a dredger which was expected on scene on Feb 22.
