Pump failure in Kos
The Port Authority of Kos was informed in the early hours of Aug 17, 2022, by the Master of the 'Olympios Zeus' that during the mooring process it suffered a mechanical failure of the oil pump of its starboard side main engine, while executing a scheduled route from the port of Kalymnos to the port of Mastichariou, Kos, with 138 passengers on board. From the Port Authority of Kos, the sailing was prohibited until an emergency inspection was carried out and damage repaired. The passengers were forwarded to their destination by the ship's owning company.
Three ferries involved in collision
The "Blue Star Patmos" got her anchor entangled with an anchor of the ferry "Nissos Kalymnos" at Kalymnos late at night on Jan 6 2017. The "Blue Star Patmos" was about to leave the port in stormy winds. She was pushed onto the "Nissos Kalymnios" which got the anchor ropes cut, so that she hit the "Olympios Zeus" which was moored next to her. One anchor was detached, and she suffered damage at the railings. Also the ramp of the "Olympios Zeus" was damaged. The "Nissos Kalymnios" was banned from sailing until repairs have been carried out.
