Ore-oil carrier converted to cruide oil only carrier
The Oman Drydock Company (ODC) has bagged a contract to convert the "Olympic Target", an ore/crude oil carrier to a crude oil only carrier. The company has bagged the new contract following successful completion of similar contracts for conversion of the four Greek ships "Olympic Luck", "Olympic Lion", "Olympic Leopard" and "Olympic Trophy" from Springfield Shipping Co. The work, which will be completed in 80 days will use over 2,200 tonnes of steel and involve more than 300 workers. The ship entered the Al Duqm Port & Drydock on Nov 5, 2016, to conduct conversion and other general maintenance works including coating, replacement of a number of parts and other repairs. ODC will carry out additional works through an integrated team including technicians, engineers and specialists.
