Offshore ship stood by distressed yacht
The "Olympic Artemis" and an RNLI lifeboat attended a 13-m-Dutch yacht, which was stranded in rough seas with a crew of two on board after it called for assistance from the RNLI lifeboat service. In deteriorating weather conditions the yacht suffered an engine problem which left it stranded off the Suffolk coast. The Lowestoft Lifeboat was called on Aug 9, 2018, just after 6.40 p.m. and launched the relief lifeboat RNLB "Cosandra" to go to the aid of the yacht, which was 18 miles east of Kessingland. The "Olympic Artemis", was in the area and stood by the yacht until the lifeboat arrived. Its crew threw a line to the yacht’s skipper and he did a good job to crawl along the deck of the pitching vessel to attach it. After a slow tow back to Lowestoft the yacht was safely moored in the yacht basin just after 11 p.m. Report with photo and video: http://www.lowestoftjournal.co.uk/news/lowestoft-lifeboat-assists-stranded-dutch-yacht-1-5647100
