Pelagic trawler sold to Faroes company
THe Faroese shipping company Thor bought the "Østang" from the Magnarson AS Austevoll for around 25 million Norwegian Crowns. The pelagic trawler, has been previously sold twice to the Faroe Islands, first in 1981 and then in 2003. It was refitted in 2002. The trawler was renamed "Hoyvík" and will be used for mackerel fishing in EU waters off the Shetlands. Parts of the Norwegian crew who were aboard the "Østangen" will continue to work for the new owners. The "Hoyvík" is the first pelagic ship which is registered in the capital Torshavn the since "Krúnborg" was sold in 2006. The Thor shipping company operates both fisheries and offshore activities.
