Main engine loss off Sanda lighthouse
The "Emma", en route from Halmstad to Ayr with a crew of seven on board, lost its main engine and was drifting on Feb 8, 2018, at 04 20. a.m. in position 55 16 51.6 N 24 22.2 W, 6.2 miles east of Sanda lighthouse. The Campbeltown lifeboat has been tasked to be on standby with the vessel. The Stornoway Coast Guard enquired about availability of tugs, but the crew managed to restart the engine and recommenced the passage to Ayr at 08.34 a.m. with a communication schedule in place with the vessel every 30 minutes. She berthed in port a 6 p.m.
Allision in Kiel-Holtenau
On June 25, 2017, at 9.15 p.m. the "Ocean Freedom" (IMO: 9506722), coming from Duala, allided with the "Emma" in the Kiel-Holtenau locks of the Kiel Canal. The mooring manoever went wrong, so that the ship's aft pulled towards the "Emma" which was already berthed inside the lock. A crane of the "Ocean Freedom" touched an antenna of the "Emma" which was knocked down. Further damage at port side could not be ruled out. The lock was closed for ship traffic until 10.15 p.m. The "Ocean Freedom" continued the voyage at 10.45 p.m. after the police had investigated the accident, and berthed in Fredericia at the Ocean Quay on June 26 around 9 a.m. The "Emma" which was enroute from Ijmuiden to Halmstad berthed at the Lindenau Yard in Kiel on Juen 25 at 8.15 p.m. for repairs.
