Offshore vessel sold to Danish company in Emden
The broker GRS has developed and arranged the sale of the "Ocean Zephyr" including an Ampelmann A-type offshore access system fitted to the vessel from the OWS Off-Shore Wind Solutions to A1 Offshore Solutions in Denmark. Delivery took place on March 24, 2017, in Emden. The vessel will continue a charter on a German offshore windfarm under its existing name. Although the vessel has a long-term charter in the summer season, over the next five years it will also be made available to other interested charterers. In the winter, spring and autumn the vessel will be based in Emden, fully mobilised and available for any short or long-term walk-to-work enquiries.
MOB stuck on dam during salvage attempt
During a training of the Dutch lifeboat "Jan en Titia Visser" on Apr 25, 2014, the crew was requested to assist the yacht "Eiland" and a man over board boat (MOB) in trouble on the Ems at buoy 60 in position 53º 20N 7º05 E. The MOB of the "Ocean Zephyr" already had tried to pull the motor yacht off a stone dam, but the wire had broken and fouled the propeller. The "Ocean Zephyr" now requested the "Jan en Titia Visser" to pull the MOB back to its mother ship. The lifeboat approached both boats very carefully as they both were lying on the top of the stone dam now. First the MOB was pulled off and brought alongside the "Ocean Zephyr". Then the yacht with its panicking skipper also was salvaged, while the offshore vessel lit the accident site. The "Eiland" was towed to a marina in Emden, and the yacht was safely moored in Emden at 11 p.m. Dutch report with photos: http://www.knrm.nl/service/reddingrapporten/?contentID=6CADB1B5
