Last trip to Aliaga under tow
On Aug 15, 2014, the "Ocean Life" finished the last trip to Aliaga under tow. The ship was decommissioned in Abelakia after fuel and other petroleum products were pumped out. 2010 the ship had been sold to Blue Ocean Cruises who renamed it "Ocean Life" for cruising in India. During the maiden cruise cracks appeared on the port side resulting in flooding of some cabins, and the ship tilted. It returned safely to Goa for repairs but the damage was too severe so a few months later the ship returned to Drapetsona where ot was decommissioned. OCEAN LIFE 7625809
The "Ocean Life" is currently under repair by workers of the Western India Shipyard at berth 4 at the Mormugao Port Trust. They were unable to detect the fault with caused it to list Nov 15 evening. The ship tilted to one side at three degrees and a little while later sea water entered the cabins. Western India Shipyard workers had on Nov 17 tried to find the exact point of leakage but failed to detect and plug it. It may still take a few days. The inspection of the ship was being done by officials of the Mercantile Marine department and DG shipping. Navy divers along with coast guard personnel inspected the vessel Nov 16 morning before it was taken to Western India shipyard for repairs. After the vessel encountered problems on Nov 15 night, Navy, MPT and coast guard were in all readiness for rescue operations.
