Allision in Kiel-Holtenau

Mon Jun 26 09:42:00 CEST 2017 Timsen

On June 25, 2017, at 9.15 p.m. the "Ocean Freedom", coming from Duala, allided with the "Emma" (IMO: 9374703)in the Kiel-Holtenau locks of the Kiel Canal. The mooring manoever went wrong, so that the ship's aft pulled towards the "Emma" which was already berthed inside the lock. A crane of the "Ocean Freedom" touched an antenna of the "Emma" which was knocked down. Further damage at port side could not be ruled out. The lock was closed for ship traffic until 10.15 p.m. The "Ocean Freedom" continued the voyage at 10.45 p.m. after the police had investigated the accident, and berthed in Fredericia at the Ocean Quay on June 26 around 9 a.m. The "Emma" which was enroute from Ijmuiden to Halmstad berthed at the Lindenau Yard in Kiel on Juen 25 at 8.15 p.m. for repairs. Allision in Corpus Christi

Fri Oct 30 10:07:40 CET 2015 Timsen

The Coast Guard and state and local partners responded to an allision between the "Ocean Freedom", which just had arrived from Colon, and a barge owned by Kirby Inland Marine which was moored at cargo dock 12 in the Corpus Christi Inner Harbor on Oct 29, 2015, at 10:30 p.m. The barge was not loaded and the cargo ship was carrying steel. The bow of the "Ocean Freedom" was severely damaged when slamming into the barge which was being held by the tug "Pecos" (MMSI-No.: 366996630). Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders received a call reporting the allision and launched a Station Port Aransas 45-foot response boat and crew shortly after, as well as a marine investigator, marine inspector and pollution responder crews. A man from the scene went to Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline due to possible knee injury. No pollution has been reported. The cause of the incident was being under investigation.
