Mar Adriana now under tow to Xiamen
Mar Adriana reappeared at around 0500 UTC Aug 10, tanker is under tow of Chinese rescue vessel Donghaijiu113 (IMO 9527128), moving towards Xiamen, speed some 5 knots. At 0620 UTC Aug 10 caravan was some 25 nm east of Xiamen.
Mar Adriana in distress in Taiwan Strait, caught in typhoon
SCF owned chemical tanker Mar Adriana issued distress signal at around 1200 LT Aug 8, reporting engine failure. Vessel is caught in typhoon which is raging in Taiwan waters, some 25 nm northwest of Penghu island, Taiwan, Taiwan Strait. Tanker with 16016 tons of acetic acid is en route from Yosu South Korea to Singapore, 17 crew, all Russian. Taiwanese Coast Guard can’t render any assistance at the moment, due to the very strong storm.
Third tanker of SCF Group successfully passes the Northern Route to Vladivostok
Tanker Mar Adriana owned by Sovcomflot (SCF Group) on November 2, 2011 passed Cape Dezhnev and entered the Pacific Ocean, successfully completing her first voyage on the Northern Sea Route, the Group said Thursday. Now the ship is bound for the destination port of Vladivostok. The tanker has covered 2,180 nm for over seven days, at an average operational speed of 12.5 knots. The Mar Adriana was escorted by Atomflot’s nuclear-powered icebreaker "Russia." This is the third voyage of SCF tankers along the northern shipping lane. Earlier in August this year, Suezmax tanker Vladimir Tikhonov (about 162,000DWT) set the record passing the NSR in a week, the first fully loaded vessel that ever passed the route.
