Three crew members injured, one fell over board
Three crew members of the "SCL Basilea" were injured, one of them fell overboard, on Jan 8, 2016, when the vessel left Leixoes bound for Panama. The man who fell overboard was rescued, all three were hospitalized with serious injures. The ship returned to Leixoes after the incident.
Cargo ship rescues sailing yacht crew from sinking vessel
The SCL Basilea diverted near the Cape Verde Islands to render assistance to stricken sailing boat, MAGRITTE. The 13.4 meter UK registered yacht, a Moody Grenadier 134, was taking part in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC), and bound from Gran Canaria to St Lucia when it reported taking on water. A MAYDAY was broadcast and MRCC Cape Verde coordinated the evacuation of the crew. Cargo vessel SCL Basilea diverted to provide assistance, reaching Magritte at approximately 0500 UTC on Thursday 3rd December. The crew were safely evacuated and are all well on board SCL Basilea which is now en route to Spain.
