Figueira da Foz took disabled tug in tow

Wed Aug 09 19:38:16 CEST 2017 Timsen

The "Figueira da Foz" on Aug 8, 2017, assisted the Portuguese tug "Monte de São Brás", 296 gt (IMO: 7014505; built 1970), which had suffered a fire in the engine room while towing a fishing vessel in the early morninghours and went adrift, dangerously close to the islands of Berlengas, about eight miles off Peniche un the Atlantic. The patrol ship towed the tug and the fishing vessel to a safer area. Later another tug was contracted to take the disabled convoy in tow to Aveiro.
