Collision on Paraná River
On Aug 28, 2024, the bulk ccrrier 'Obahan C' (IMO: 9748253) was in collision with the 'Nord Singapore' on the Paraná River at kilometer 337.5 near San Nicolás,, due to a communication failure between the vessels. No injuries or environmental damage were reported. A rescue boat on the 'Obahan C' was destroyed. The 'Obahan C', carrying 30,000 tonnes of soybean meal, was en route to Tema, heading downstream with a draft of approximately 9.30 meters, when it was struck by the 'Nord Singapore', which was ballasting from Navegantes to São Lourenço with a draft of close to 7 meters. She was scheduled to load 31000 tons of corn in San Lorenzo and then set sail for Malaysia. The 'Nord Singapore' anchored at San Nicolás North Roads at river kilopmeter 349, while the 'Obahan C 'moored at Ramallo Roads at river kilometer 325 in pos. 33° 28' S 060° 00' W. The Argentine authorities have dispatched the patrol boat 'BP 6239' to inspect the damage and ensure navigation safety in the area.
