Tank barge grounded on the Rhine
The "Noortstroom", 2006 ts (EU-No.: 02326315; MMSI - No.: 244020589; CS: PD2176), enroute from Emmerich towards Nijmegen/Arnhem ran aground on a crib on the Rhine near Pannerden in the morning of Jan 6, 2018, at 7.45 a.m. at the Wienerberger Steen Factory. The fire brigade with the fire boat "Gelderland" from Nijmegen and Rijkswaterstaat with the patrol boat "P 94" (MMSI: 244030067), were on the spot. The fireboat from Arnhem was meanwhile stood down. Due to the high water level on the river the cribs were difficult to see but it was unclear whether this was the reason for the grounding. Possibly the barge had to get out of the course of another ship in the fairway sailing ahead. Around noon representatives of Rijkswaterstaat were negotiating with the various parties how the barge could be refloated. At 1 p.m. the barge was pulled off by the "Waalplus" (MMSI: 244180626) and towed to a jetty in Millingen.
