Allision in Lelystad
One day after the cargo m/v 'Bonita' left Rotterdam upon completion of repairs of its grounding damage, the ship was in collision with the 'Noordereiland', 665 ts (EU-No.: 03270717), in the night of Feb 13, 2020, at the Houtrib lock in Lelystad. The vessel entered the lock but failed to get the engine in reverse, thereupon hitting the tanker which was coming from Amsterdam. Also the lock gate was hit and severely damaged in the accident. A defect on the 'Bonita' probably was the cause of the collision. The 'Noordereiland' berthed near the Princess-Beatrix-Locks at Nieuwegein on Feb 15. The freighter left Lelystad on Feb 20 at 7.35 a.m., headed to Grimsby with an ETA as of Feb 21, 1 p.m. The tank barge sailed again on Feb 16 and has been berthed in Gertruidenberg. Repairs were completed on March 7. The ship berthed in Werkendam at 3 p.m. and resumed trading.
