Seized tanker started listing
The 'Noor One" was found listing 20 degrees in the morning of Jan 6, 2020, by officials of the Eleusis Port Authority. The seized ship was located in the marine area of Vlychas Elefsina, approximately seven meters from the coast and at a water depth of two to three meters. The ship was half submerged with its starboard side stern. Around the ship, an oil barrier was laid out by a contractor company in cooperation with Port Elefsina SA.
Record amount of smuggled heroin seized
The Greek Coastguard has seized the record amount of more than two tonnes of heroin to be smuggled into the country aboard the "Noor One". The ship has been detained and all 11 crew members have been arrested. The heroin was found by the Greek authorities in two hiding places. The first batch of 987 kg were seized in the night of June 14 at a warehouse in an eastern suburb of Athens, while the other 1134 kg were found on June 12 in the Athens area. The "Noor One" had received the drugs at sea between Oman and Pakistan. The ship detained was in the port of Eleusis. Apart from the crew members, three other persons were also arrested when they tried to retrieve the drugs. The seizure is believed to be the largest ever in Greece with an estimated value of $ 30 million. The success was achieved with the help of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency in Athens. Vessel, master and chief engineer arrested
On June 20, 2014, the Master and Chief Engineer of the "Noor One" were arrested in Eleusis, for Customs Code Violation, odin.tc reports. Customs found a 14 mt surplus of diesel oil, contrary to the declared quantity. Both men were not of Greek nationality. An investigation was under way and the vessel put under arrest.
