Ferry disabled during rescue operation
All sailings of the Langevåg ferry have been canceled in the morning of Feb 26, 2019, at 7.30 a.m. because the "Nørvøy" was disabled while participating in a rescue operation. The ferry crew observed a fishing boat that had its nets out and was circling around in the Borgundfjord between Langevåg and Ålesundsouth of Ålesund in Møre og Romsda with one person in the sea. The "Nørvøy" went to the scene to assist jointly with a lifeboat and the Boreal speedboat and other helping hands. The fisherman was hanging in the yarn of the fishing boat. He was recovered by a dive boat at 7.55 a.m. and transported to the hospital in Ålesund with air ambulance. During the rescue work, the "Nørvøy" got a line in the propeller, and the vessel had to be towed to Ålesund where further investigations were made. All sailings between Langevåg and Ålesund have been canceled until further notice. The Route 23 will be operated by bus with departures from the Langevåg express boat quay to Ålesund bus station at 09.45 a.m and from the Ålesund bus station also at 09.45 a.m. Work was on to get the fishing boat, which meanwhile had capsized, to the shore.
