Mechanical failure off Alexandroupolis
The Port Authority of Alexandroupolis was informed in the morning of June 3, 2022, by the Captain of the 'Agios Georgios' about a mechanical failure 6,5 nautical miles south of Alexandroupolis. The 'Laki Star' towed the ship safely to the port of Alexandroupolis. The Central Port Authority of Alexandroupolis, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, banned the ship from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a class maintenance certificate by the classification society that monitors it.
Grounding at Vrak Karavi
The "Agios Georgios" hit rocks at Vrak Karavi in the Aegean sea in pos. 36 46 N 023 36 E, east of Monemvasia, while en route to Neapolis Voion, on Oct 22, 2018, around midnight. The hull was breached, and the ship suffered water ingress in the foreship which could, however, be brought under control. The ship resumed sailing 20 minutes later and was moored at Neapolis Voion Anchorage on Oct 23 at 03.30 a.m. where it was to be surveyed in the run of the day. The crew of the ship, consisting of eight Greek sailors, was safe and sound. The ship had left Kavala on Oct 21 at 4.15 p.m., bound for Gytheio, loaded with 1700 metric tons of fertilizer. The ship arrived at Perama on Oct 31 at 2.30 p.m.
