At approximately 8:50 a.m. in the morning of´Nov 27, 2010, the 26 foot s/y "Somers Delight" with one person aboard made contact with local officials saying the boat had suffered damage to the sails and requested assistance. The sailor was traveling from Nova Scotia, Canada to Bermuda, and made the call when he was located approximately 47 nautical miles north-east of Bermuda. Contact was made from the sailboat via ham radio enthusiasts to Bermuda Martime Operation Center. The "Genoa Express" diverted to the scene to act as a communication platform. The lone sailor was found fit and well, declined to abandon his vessel and continued on his voyage to Bermuda. The "Genoa Express", which was en route fromSavannah, Georgia, to Sardinia, Italy, also continued its journey.
