Frigate suffered water damage

Thu Aug 10 11:17:54 CEST 2023 Timsen

The Zr.Ms. 'De Zeven Provinciën' has sustained water damage. Water has flowed from the fire extinguishing system, and equipment has been shut down as a result, when the ship was at the jetty in Den Helder and the crew was on summer leave. The navy was now mapping out how long it will take to repair the damage and what the consequences are for the deployment of the frigate. The damage came to light on Aug 8, 2023. The Central Walguards in Den Helder received an automatic report that something was wrong with the electronics in parts of the ship. The cause was still unclear and under investigation.

Dutch fregate leaked oil

Tue May 24 10:36:42 CEST 2022 Timsen

The Zr.Ms. 'De Zeven Provinciën' lost about 4000 liters of lubricating oil in the Baltic Sea, where the frigate was part of the NATO fleet association Standing Nato Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1), in April 2022, the Dutch Defense Ministry said on May 23. Because the oil leaked out in small parts, the leak was not immediately noticeable. The crew only noticed the spill after thousands of liters of oil had already got lost. The leak was subsequently repaired, the cause of which is not yet known. The ship is now in Lisbon for a port visit
